One to One Sessions
Beforehand
For one-to-one sessions, we’ll have a quick initial phone chat, so that I can run through what to expect in more detail, and I’ll then send out an email with information such as directions to the venue.
For insurance purposes I’m required to keep notes of my contact with you. These notes are confidential and will be treated with respect and kept securely for three years following our final session.
There’s no need to bring anything with you. Paper and pens will be provided, or you’re welcome to bring your own journal or notepad. Ideally, you’ll write by hand, although laptops and tablets are fine, too. Find out more on the about page.
The Sessions
I enjoy meeting face to face and one to one, in local venues, such as Wellbeing in Action’s Wellbeing Centre in Newton Abbot. I also sometimes offer small workshops and online Zoom sessions. Upcoming workshops will be listed on the website and on social media.
Each session will be designed around your needs, based on our phone chat and how things unfold as we start writing. It’s fun, relaxed, and informal. We’re playing with words, using prompts, music, and images.
Most importantly, there’s absolutely no obligation to read out or share what you write. There are no rules – spelling, grammar and punctuation are all unimportant. This is just about brain dumping, using speed writing and other techniques to bypass your inner critic.
Cost
One to one sessions cost £35 per one-hour session, and are usually run as a series of three. If booked together in advance, the three sessions cost £100.
Payment is payable by BACS, 48 hours prior to your booked session, with payment details included in the introductory email.
I am in the position, through grant funding, to be able to offer some sessions free of charge. Please get in touch if you feel you may be eligible.
Cancellation
Should you need to cancel, please give as much prior notice as possible. Cancellation on the day may not be subject to a refund.
In the event that Debbie may need to cancel your session, an alternative appointment will be offered as soon as possible.
Additional Information
This is not therapy, and we will not be engaging in giving any counselling or advice.
OutPour is not a typical creative writing course – we don’t teach writing techniques or how to market your work.
Song lyrics will not be put to music during the sessions, although some workshops may offer this option.
OutPour may partner with other accredited professionals for workshops, including writers and musicians.
